IDENTIFICATION OF EACH DIGIT OF THE 16 DIGITS IN NEW PPO./e-PPO*

After 7th CPC, PCDA has started issuing PPO no with 16 digits- with and without Notional fixation.

First 12 digits will be the PPO number and the other 4 digits as Suffix indicating the Type of pension.

Previously, we had Prefix to the PPO number Like S/C/ 123/1998 and D/BC/ 123/1998. The S/C and D/BC was the indication of Type of pension.

Now the Prefix is completely removed and Suffix is brought IN. Here, Each digit has its own indication. 

For example: 

Latest PPO No; 1 85 2016 00204- 0100 

First Digit – indicate the Service i.e - Army, Navy and Air force. No. 1 is for Army No. 2 for Navy and No.3 for Air force No. 4 for civilians and No. 5 for NPS in r/o Civilians. 

Now we go and identify the given PPO number-185201600204- 0100 

First digit : 1………Indicates, the pensioner is from ARMY Digits 

Second and Third.85 indicate the record office of the pensioner –AMC Digits : 4 to 7

Four……..Indicate the year of sanction of pension…..2016 Digits : (8 to 12)

(five)… indicate the running serial number of PPO.00204. SUFFIX NO. ( FOUR ) Type of pension. 

Digit 13 to 14…..Type of pension of the pensioner. Here No.01 is Service pension, then if there is any Corr PPO, the number will be after this ( 15 to 16).

In the given PPO, there is no Corr PPO issued, it is the first PPO hence it is 0100. Suppose, there was, say 3 Corr PPO issued later, Then it will be indicated as 0102/ 0103/ 0104 and so on up to 0149. Corr. PPO for JOINT NOTIFICATION WILL BE - 0150.

Note: If there is any major changes like 7th CPC or OROP II, then the Suffix will change. For Example if the Notional Pay/ Pension is implemented as per 7th CPC, Then the SUFFIX No WILL be as 0199, then further Major revision like OROP II, it will change as 0198, in dissenting order 0197, 0196 and so on. In the normal cases, the corr PPO will bear the Suffix numbers like, 0101, 0102, 0103 etc Service pension revised corr. PPO... But these numbers will vary according the types of pension, Like Disability, War injury pension, Ordinary Family pension, Special Family pension, Liberalised Family pension, Dependent pension, Reservist Pension and Ex-Gratia payment etc. For example: Service pension with Disability – discharge case: 0200 Service pension with war injury - discharge case: 0400 Disability invalided pension:2100 War injury invalided pension: 2300 Ordinary Family pension: 3000 Special Family pension : 3300 Liberalised Family pension : 3700 and so on There is a Table indicating the Suffix numbers for Different type of pensions, Record Offices Code/ HOO code for Defence civilians .... HOW TO REGISTER AT RODRA AND GET YOUR 7 CPC –  E-PPO

Pension Payment Order (PPO) is an important document as far as Pensioners are concerned which determines the Pension to be fixed at the time of retirement. Until October 2017, process of issuing PPO was done manually by PCDA.

PCDA has started issuing electronic-Pension Payment Orders (e-PPOs) for all defence pensioners including defence civilians.  The shift from manual system to e-PPO system is expected to minimize delays in pension disbursement and further revision as and when needed. This initiative also eliminates the occurrence of human errors in data entry at multiple levels.

Retired Officers Digital Records Archive (RODRA)

MP 5&6, AGs Branch, Army HQ is responsible for maintaining records of serving and veteran officers of Indian Army.

All Veteran Officers of the Indian Army (less AMC, ADC, MNS & TA), Spouses of such officers in receipt of family pension & Dependents other than spouse in receipt of family pension should register themselves at the RODRA site, https://rodra.gov.in/.

Procedure for Registering (Sign up):

1. You will need to have the following data therefore keep a copy of your original PPO before your enter your particulars in RODRA web page:-

(a) Service No without suffix (e.g. IC27563).

(b) Date of Birth in dd/mm/yyyy format (e.g. 20/03/1948).

(c) Date of Commission in dd/mm/yyyy format (e.g. 13/01/1972). For technical graduates your first date of training in IMA/ OTA is the date of your short service commission. Do NOT enter your actual date of passing out. You were granted Short Service Commission on the first day of training hence that is your date of commission. You can see this in your original PPO also. For all other entries, you see your PPO for date of commission.

(d) Date of Retirement in dd/mm/yyyy format(e.g. 31/03/2004).

(e) Mobile No (10 digits only).

(f) E-mail id.

2. Decide on a password. It should have a minimum of eight (8) characters, where at least one capital letter, one special character (e.g.  @, $,&) and one numeral (0 to 9). Note this down for future use. There is a facility to change the password at a later date. If by chance you ever forget your password, there is a provision for you to reset it. For example Narendra@72 is an example. Keep your password as simple and short as possible.

3. Entering Data. Click on Sign Up. Enter all the particulars as mentioned above. Enter Catchpa exactly as is shown. Click on Submit.

4. OTP. MP 5/6 collected some data with the PPOs they have. Therefore, your data must match with theirs. Then only your data will be accepted. Once your data matches with data held by MP 5/6, you will be informed that OTP will be sent to your mobile no and e-mail id. Once you see OTP in your mobile, enter it for verification.

5. After this is done, then you will shown your user name i.e. IC number and you will be asked to enter a password. Enter your password. Click on “Submit” button. You will be informed that you have been successfully registered.

6. Open the website https://rodra.gov.in/.

7. Click on the “Login/Sign up” tab or Click on “New Users Sign up Here”.

8. Enter your user name (IC Number without suffix) and password. Type the Catchpa exactly as is shown. Click on Submit.

9. You will be taken to first page where in some details of yours held by MP 5/6 like your service no, rank, name in full etc are shown.

10. To get your e-PPO, click on “Downloads”. If your PPO has been issued by PCDA (Pension), it will be available for download in pdf format.

Office Memorandum

Subject:- Transmission of e-PPO(PDF & XML) to the authorized banks in fresh pension cases.

e-PPO project has been started for issuing electronic PPO to pensioners and to digitize the whole pension processing. The e-PPO system aims at online processing of pension cases and movement of online data from Head of Office (HoO) to Pay & Accounts Office (PAO) to CPAO to Bank for fresh as well as revision of pension cases. In this system, all the stakeholders i.e. HOO, PAO, CPAO and Banks would perform their respective work online. The main objective of this exercise is to put in place seamless transmission of pension electronically from head of office to banks for payment of pensions.

2. At present, pension cases in respect of central civil pensioners are being processed online through PFMS and e-PPO (XML & PDF file) is being forwarded by the Pay & Accounts Offices to CPAO.

3. It has now been decided to send the e-PPO (XML & PDF file] to the banks for consuming the data in their system after updating their pension software as per requirement. The physical PPO booklet along with the SSA in fresh pension cases will continue to be sent to all the banks as a parallel run till the system stabilizes.

4. It is also clarified that details given in Physical Booklet of PPO will be sacrosanct and supersede in case any mismatch or discrepancy arises between the data of PDF and XMI, file of e-PPO.
